A Visit to Takumi Engineering
Pupils from St. Mary’s National School in Kings Island recently visited Takumi Precision Engineering in Raheen Business Park as part of the Outreach to Employment Programme.
This initiative, led by Limerick City and County Council’s Regeneration Directorate, aims to improve access to employment, education, and training pathways for the local community.

Engaging with Local Industry
The programme focuses on the four Regeneration Communities of Limerick City, providing opportunities for students and their parents to meet local industry employers. During the visit, fifth and sixth class pupils engaged directly with the Takumi team, gaining insights into potential career paths in fields like medical, aerospace, and industrial engineering.
Founded in 1998, Takumi Precision Engineering is a global leader in engineering solutions and employs local staff, making it an integral part of the community. The visit allowed students to explore real-world applications of their education and sparked interest in future careers.

Community Support and Impact
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, praised the programme, noting its importance in connecting young people with local industry. “This initiative provides valuable insights and inspiration for their future careers,” he said. Additionally, the Cathaoirleach of the Metropolitan District emphasized the programme's impact on often overlooked areas, inspiring individuals to achieve their full potential.

A Word from School Officials
Eoghan O’Byrne, Principal of St. Mary’s National School, expressed his enthusiasm for the trip, stating, “Experiences like this truly inspire and connect learning with the real world for our pupils.” Takumi’s Stacey Keane also welcomed the opportunity to share their passion for innovation, hoping to inspire the next generation of engineers and technologists in Limerick.
