Junior Dashboard Analyst
Job Description
Posted on: May 11, 2026
Most businesses have plenty of data but very little clarity. They look at dashboards full of green arrows and assume things are going well, even while margins are quietly shrinking or customer acquisition costs are rising. We need a Junior Dashboard Analyst to help us strip away that noise and build tools that show what is actually happening to the bottom line. Blue Oak Consulting is a remote firm that specializes in commercial logic and finding the truth behind the numbers. About Blue Oak Blue Oak Consulting provides commercial advice for situations where the right path is not obvious. We work with leadership teams to look past strategy talk and focus on the cold economics of their business. Our approach is skeptical. We examine pricing architectures, capital allocation, and fixed cost structures to find where value is leaking or where capital is trapped. We believe most business problems are wrapped in language that hides the real choices. Our work is to surface what the numbers say and test whether current assumptions hold up under pressure. We are a fully remote firm that values clear thinking and direct communication. We skip the reports that only exist to look pretty and focus on delivering information that helps people make difficult decisions when the stakes are high. The role
- Cleaning and organizing raw datasets from various client sources such as CRM or ERP systems.
- Building clear, functional dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel that prioritize economic truth over visual flair.
- Identifying discrepancies in data that might suggest a deeper issue in how a client tracks their performance or internal operations.
- Collaborating with our consultants to turn specific commercial questions into data visualizations that highlight risks and rewards.
- Updating and maintaining existing models to ensure accuracy as businesses evolve or as new data becomes available.
- Helping the team document where data comes from so that our analysis is always repeatable and verifiable.
What we need from you
- A strong grasp of logic and a curiosity about how businesses actually function and make money.
- Basic proficiency in spreadsheet software and a genuine interest in learning how to use professional data visualization tools.
- The ability to look at a chart and ask why the numbers look the way they do rather than just accepting them at face value.
- Comfort working in a fully remote environment where clear written communication and self-organization are essential.
- An organized approach to tasks and a high level of attention to detail when dealing with numbers and formulas.
- A willingness to admit when you do not understand a specific business metric and the drive to research it until you do.
What the role offers This is a full-time, permanent position designed for someone starting their career in data analysis. You will get to see the inner workings of diverse companies, from software firms to high-output manufacturing plants. Because we are a small team, your work will be used directly in high-level decision-making from your first month. We offer a remote-first culture that respects your time and focuses on the quality of your thinking rather than the hours you spend at a computer. You will learn a rigorous way of thinking about business logic that goes far beyond standard data entry or basic reporting. We provide the support and the tools you need to grow your technical skills while you contribute to projects that have a tangible effect on our clients futures. Who tends to do well here People who thrive at Blue Oak are those who are naturally skeptical of easy answers. You should be the kind of person who spots an inconsistency in a report and feels the need to investigate until you find the source of the error. We value people who can admit when they are wrong or when they are confused, and who seek out the simplest possible way to explain a complicated idea. Success in this role means providing the clarity that allows a client to make a difficult choice with confidence. We look for analysts who care more about whether a chart is correct and useful than whether it looks impressive at a glance.
