Medical Writer (9-Month Contractor Position - Maternity Cover)
Fully remote | Full-time | Start: December/January 2025
Open to remote candidates worldwide
At Co-Labb, we believe brilliant science deserves brilliant communication.
Co-Labb is a specialist scientific and medical writing agency founded by scientists who discovered a passion for medical writing. We’re a small, expert team that partners with some of the biggest names in life sciences, healthcare, and biotech.
We work with biotech and life-science innovators to turn research, data, and clinical outcomes into content that educates, inspires, and drives progress — from white papers and clinical reports to thought-leadership blogs and web copy. What sets us apart from other medical writing agencies? Variety. Unlike many companies where writers are siloed into one type of project, at Co-Labb, every week brings a mix of different tasks. We believe in keeping things dynamic, challenging, and rewarding.
We’re looking for a Medical Writer to join us on a 9-month maternity cover contract with the potential to extend. If you’ve got a PhD in the life sciences, love clear, clever communication, and want to build a writing career that mixes science, creativity, and impact… this is your chance.
The Role:
We’re looking for a scientist who can think critically, write beautifully, and adapt fast.
You’ll work across a broad range of content types, including:
- Scientific manuscripts for high-impact journals
- Regulatory and technical documentation
- Marketing and educational content (blog posts, white papers, web copy)
- User manuals and instructional materials
This role is best suited to someone who enjoys diversity in their work and is comfortable handling multiple project types. You’ll also be involved in client communication and the internal review process, providing feedback on team projects to ensure quality and consistency.
Who We’re Looking For
We want a team player with a strong work ethic and a great attitude. You need to be adaptable, proactive, and willing to take on different types of writing projects. This role is perfect for someone who:
- Thrives on variety and enjoys working on different types of projects each week
- Has excellent scientific writing skills and the ability to tailor content for different audiences
- Is confident liaising directly with clients and managing feedback
- Is comfortable reviewing and critiquing writing to ensure the highest quality standards
Qualifications & Experience
- We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD or postdoctoral experience who want to transition into medical writing. Prior medical writing experience is not required, but you must have a strong desire to pursue a career in medical writing.
- Alternatively, candidates with prior experience in medical or scientific writing (agency, industry, or freelance) are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong ability to write clearly, concisely, and accurately for different audiences.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Experience with basic statistical analysis is required.
If this sounds like the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you! Apply now by sending your CV, writing samples/bibliography (if available), and a short cover letter explaining why you’re interested in the role. Please do not use AI to write your cover letter - we want to hear from YOU!
Starting salary £37,500+ per year dependent on experience (pro-rated for 9 months)
**Following interview, shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a short writing task
APPLICATIONS ARE ONLY ACCEPTED VIA LINKEDIN AND ARE NOT ACCEPTED VIA THE CO-LABB WEBSITE
