Hourglass is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to calling time on the harm, abuse, exploitation and neglect of older people. We support older people experiencing, or at risk of, harm, abuse or exploitation, and seek to create a safer ageing society for all.

We are seeking a Data and Information Officer to lead on collating and presenting the charity’s impact information, while curating, maintaining, and updating the Knowledge Bank - the UK’s first online information repository wholly focused on the abuse of older people and safer ageing.

The Information and Data Officer will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with internal teams across the charity to identify and collate the data and content needs for the Knowledge Bank, including internal and external content.
  • Creating a new content and updating the Knowledge Bank on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of instant messenger and chatbot services, support real-time information innovations.
  • Coordinating accessible resources (online, paper-based, and alternative formats) for a diverse range of service users, including those with disabilities or language needs.
  • Ensuring data quality and accuracy by cleaning and reviewing case records, supporting data model and CRM updates, and maintaining data standards in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Upholding data security and legal compliance by following data protocols, ensuring confidentiality, and staying current with policies, procedures, and relevant legislation including the Data Protection Act 2018.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in creating, administering, and maintaining electronic information repositories, including CRM/database systems.
  • Strong data analysis skills with experience in working with large data sets and producing accurate, high-quality statistical reports for a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including a good working knowledge of formulas and data tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex or nuanced data points clearly for different stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential issues with integrity and maintain a complex, varied workload effectively.
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, creative problem-solver who can use their own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience supporting or working with vulnerable or older people, and/or the ability to engage with sensitive or potentially distressing content.
  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience.
  • Good understanding of data governance, privacy, and confidentiality standards, especially in relation to sensitive information.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Demonstrated interest in VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls), domestic/sexual abuse, violence prevention, or related areas such as health, social care, or safeguarding.
  • Experience in project management, including the ability to deliver successful and impactful projects from planning through to completion.
  • Knowledge of evaluation and monitoring processes.
  • Background in the charity or NGO sector, with insight into non-profit operations.
  • Previous experience working in a Helpline, Information Services, or a similar support-based or frontline service environment.
  • Lived experience or in-depth knowledge of issues related to domestic or sexual abuse, including intervention or prevention approaches.
