Tech for Liberation - Phase One Project Coordinator (Volunteer)
Job Description
Posted on: January 25, 2026
Role: Volunteer Project Coordinator
Time: Approximately 8–10 hours/week | Remote | Flexible
Start: February 2026
Duration: 3–4 months (Phase One)
About Tech for Liberation
Tech for Liberation is a survivor-led initiative developing ethical AI tools and knowledge infrastructures to help people — starting with psychiatric survivors — generate their own human rights complaints.
This is not a charity or a tech product. It’s liberation infrastructure: survivor governance, ethical technology, and systems change rooted in dignity and lived truth.
We are currently in Phase One: field activation. This is the moment where trust, resonance, and survivor-authored frameworks come alive — before funding, before scale, and before systems attempt to reframe or co-opt the work.
The Role
We’re looking for a calm, capable, deeply aligned Project Coordinator to help hold the emerging threads of Phase One.
This isn’t about managing deliverables. It’s about stewarding coherence.
You’ll work closely with founder Lucy Wishart, strategic advisor Irshad, and a small values-led team including Florence (strategic ethics), Anna Maria (communications), and others. Your role is to support internal flow, document movement, and relational clarity as the project unfolds.
Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Organise folders, track documents, capture meeting notes
- Maintain clarity without imposing unnecessary structure
Calendar and Flow
- Support scheduling for team meetings and engagement sessions
- Help maintain a healthy, non-overwhelming pace
Information Stewardship
- Ensure important outputs, frameworks, and conversations are tracked and easily referenced
- Collaborate with contributors to keep documents moving forward
Relational Support
- Help onboard aligned volunteers or collaborators
- Support communication and clarity within a fluid, evolving structure
Who You Are
This role may suit you if:
- You can hold structure gently, without dominating the process
- You’re comfortable inside ambiguity and iterative development
- You communicate clearly, calmly, and relationally
- You value trauma-informed or survivor-led work
- You can track multiple threads without needing complete control
- You move with integrity and care, even when things are emergent
Who This Is Not For
- You want to manage fixed outputs or build traditional project plans
- You expect clear hierarchies and job descriptions from day one
- You prioritise formality over presence
- You need ownership or control over direction
- You struggle when work moves at the speed of truth, not systems
Boundaries and Ethics
- This is a volunteer role. If funding arises during your time with us, compensation will be revisited transparently.
- Final decisions about roles, contributors, and strategy rest with Lucy and Irshad. Your role is to support the field, not lead it.
- Florence’s contributions are central to Phase One. Her role is still emerging, but all of her work must be tracked, honoured, and integrated.
Final Note
This is a quiet but essential role. You’re not here to speed us up — you’re here to help us stay aligned.
If you know how to support sacred work without overwhelming it, and you’re ready to hold something real before it’s recognised, we’d love to hear from you.
