Frontend Engineer (Typescript, React)

About The Role We are seeking a Front-End Software Engineer to design and build engaging, scalable, and insightful products for managing and visualizing large-scale distributed real-time data streams. You will work on Confluent’s Cloud UI, built with React and Typescript, to make data flow intuitive and attractive. This role involves close collaboration with backend engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver high-quality user experiences that scale with Apache Kafka. Responsibilities

• Build new features and revise existing ones based on user requirements and feedback.
• Develop platform-as-a-service (PaaS) products with a focus on scalability and performance.
• Validate API contracts and UI wireframes against user needs.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to ensure performance and user experience are optimized.
• Partner with designers to implement UI components and styling.
• Work with product managers to create seamless user experiences.
• Develop and execute test plans with stakeholder approval.
• Monitor large-scale system deployments and triage Cloud incidents using Confluent’s Javascript monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoot production bugs and participate in code reviews.
• Build tooling to improve daily workflows and developer productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field (graduated in 2022 or graduating by June 2025).
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as JavaScript, C, C++, Python, or Go.
• Experience building web applications using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, React/Flux, and modern JavaScript tooling (Webpack, Babel, Gulp/Grunt).
• Ability to work independently with mentorship and drive projects to completion.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
• Interest in building large-scale distributed systems and fast-paced innovative environments.
