Midwest Students Unite for Healthcare Career Launch
Students from throughout the Midwest convened at Mungret Community College in Limerick to kick off the Junior Health Sciences Academy Early Careers Event 2025.
This annual Early Careers Event supports students across the Midwest through a collaboration organized by the University of Limerick Health Sciences Academy, Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, HSE Mid-West, and Limerick Education Support Centre. It targets Transition Year, Fifth Year, and Sixth Year students.
Record-Breaking Interest in Healthcare Careers
The event, which highlights careers in healthcare, has gained immense popularity among post-primary students, with over 17,000 students tuning in last year across Ireland.
Expanded Format for 2025: Series of Webinars
This year, the event has evolved into a series of webinars conducted via Zoom:
- Tuesday, 11 November 2025, from 9:15 AM to 10:30 AM
- Thursday, 13 November 2025, from 9:15 AM to 10:30 AM
Designed for Aspiring Healthcare Professionals
The webinar series is tailored for Transition Year, Fifth Year, and Leaving Certificate students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.
Insights from Healthcare Experts and Students
A diverse and inspiring lineup of representatives from various healthcare professions will participate in this fourth annual event. Organized by the Health Sciences Academy with Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and the Limerick Education Support Centre, it promises valuable insights.
Focus on Early Careers and Leadership
The Junior Health Sciences Academy is part of the Health Sciences Academy partnership between University of Limerick, UL Hospitals Group, and HSE Mid West Community Healthcare. It specifically aims to support students in early careers, health promotion, and leadership in health.
Real-World Career Journeys and Guidance
Students will hear from clinical staff from UL Hospitals Group and HSE Mid West Community Healthcare, who will share their healthcare career journeys and day-to-day work practices. Additionally, third-level students from health sciences programs at the University of Limerick will offer guidance on subject choices and career opportunities.
