Empowering Young Women: Career Exploration in Manufacturing at Black Hawk College

Celebrating Women in Construction Week

From March 2 to March 8, we recognize Women in Construction Week, a time dedicated to promoting the vital role women play in the construction industry. In this spirit, junior high girls had the unique opportunity to explore careers in manufacturing at Black Hawk College.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The event aimed to inspire young females to consider careers in fields traditionally dominated by men. Through hands-on activities and engaging presentations, participants learned about various roles within the manufacturing sector, highlighting the importance of diversity in the workforce.

Workshops and Activities

During the week, attendees participated in workshops that covered:

• Engineering principles
• Safety protocols in the workplace
• Career pathways available in manufacturing

The interactive sessions were designed to provide insight into the skills and education needed for success in these fields, encouraging girls to envision themselves as future leaders and innovators.

Building Confidence and Skills

Events like these are crucial for building confidence and interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers among young women. By showcasing role models and providing real-world experiences, Black Hawk College aims to empower the next generation of female professionals.

Join us in celebrating the contributions of women in manufacturing and encouraging young girls to pursue their passions in this dynamic industry!
