About the role

Type: 3 months UX/UI Internship, (Open to Everyone, With the Possibility of Extension)

Company Description Barkatwallah is a software company dedicated to building focused, high-quality tools for everyday professionals. The team believes that great software should be simple, efficient, and solve one problem exceptionally well. Barkatwallah avoids unnecessary features and gimmicks, instead creating streamlined tools that users enjoy working with every day. Join a company that values clarity, usability, and craftsmanship in software design.

Role Description

  • Design flows, wireframes, high-fidelity screens and clickable prototypes in Figma.
  • Design the core experiences: onboarding, snippet creation and editing, trigger setup, search, settings and sync status.
  • Design the in-between states too: empty, loading, error, offline and sync-conflict screens.
  • Adapt designs to each surface: browser extension, Windows, macOS and responsive web.
  • Build and maintain a small, consistent design system with reusable components, Figma variables and light and dark themes.
  • Design keyboard-first interactions and document shortcuts and focus behaviour.
  • Check accessibility: contrast, readable text, clear labels and visible focus.
  • Run quick usability tests with a few users and turn the findings into clear, prioritised changes.
  • Hand designs to developers with specs, assets and every interaction state, then review the built screens.

Required

  • Figma: components, Auto Layout, variants and interactive prototyping.
  • Design basics: typography, spacing, color, layout and visual hierarchy.
  • A portfolio with at least one or two projects showing your process. Academic and personal projects are fine.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to work independently while remote.
  • Figma variables and design tokens, and FigJam.
  • Basic HTML and CSS knowledge, so you know what developers can build.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility basics.
  • Usability testing tools such as Maze.
  • Basic React or Git awareness.

What you get

  • Real work on a live product, with direct mentorship and design feedback from the founder.
  • A certificate of completion and a reference letter for strong performance.
  • This role is unpaid and does not guarantee future employment
