Volunteer Opportunity: Happy City Index Researcher

Are you passionate about urban development and quality of life? Join our global team as a Volunteer Happy City Index Researcher and contribute to a project that assesses and improves city living standards worldwide.

About Us:

The Happy City Index is a community-driven initiative aimed at promoting the role and significance of residents in urban policies. For the past five years, we have been evaluating cities based on 82 indicators, which span 26 different areas of city activity and 6 main thematic areas: CITIZENS, GOVERNANCE, ENVIRONMENT, ECONOMY, HEALTH, and MOBILITY. The results are published on International Day of Happiness, 20 March.

The Happy City Index is a collaborative initiative between : Happy City Hub, a London-based think tank (35/37 Ludgate Hill, EC4M 7JN, United Kingdom), and the Institute for Quality of Life / Institut pour la Qualité de Vie, a research organisation based in Paris (142, rue de Rivoli, 75001, Paris, France). Both institutions work together on the design, coordination, and publication of the Happy City Index. As a Happy City Index Researcher, you will play a crucial role in gathering and inputting data for our #2026 edition of the index. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Data Collection: Research and compile data on selected cities based on our established indicators.

• Data Entry: Accurately input the collected data into our information system, ensuring precision and attention to detail.

• Collaboration: Work alongside a global team, coordinating efforts remotely to maintain the highest standard of data quality.

Commitment:

This volunteer role involves gathering data from December 2025 to February 2026. Although our headquarters are based in London, all activities are conducted remotely, enabling you to participate from any location.
