About the Opportunity
We’re looking for experienced software engineers and open-source contributors to help evaluate and improve next-generation AI systems. In this role, you’ll create realistic coding challenges that assess an AI model’s ability to fix bugs, implement features, refactor code, and optimize performance.
You’ll build reproducible reinforcement learning environments, develop deterministic verification systems, and provide reliable reference solutions. Prior AI experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Create realistic and challenging coding tasks involving bug fixes, feature implementation, code refactoring, and performance optimization.
- Build reproducible reinforcement learning environments with verified reference solutions.
- Develop deterministic verifiers that accept valid solutions and reject incorrect implementations.
- Debug complex software defects and resolve performance bottlenecks across diverse codebases.
- Implement scalable, maintainable features following software engineering best practices.
- Refactor and optimize legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, and reliability.
- Document technical reasoning, solution approaches, and implementation decisions.
- Review and validate code contributions for accuracy, quality, and clarity.
Required Qualifications
- Strong software engineering or backend development experience in Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, TypeScript, or similar languages.
- Demonstrated ability to debug software, fix complex issues, and implement new features.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and fundamental computer science concepts.
- Experience with automated testing, code reviews, and performance optimization.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Significant hands-on experience in at least one supported programming language: Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.
- A strong record of open-source contributions, preferably demonstrated through a GitHub profile.
- Experience refactoring large codebases and modernizing legacy systems.
- A track record of delivering high-quality, scalable software features.
- Experience identifying system bottlenecks and improving application performance.
- Strong documentation skills and an interest in AI development.
Compensation & Engagement
- Compensation: $50–$100/hour equivalent, with payment based on tasks that meet project specifications.
- Engagement: Contractor role with flexible remote work.
- Workload: Approximately 15 hours per task run, with minimum weekly submission requirements.
- Actual compensation depends on completed qualifying tasks; the time required may vary by experience and workflow.
Application Process
- Apply and complete the screening questions.
- Complete an approximately 20-minute AI interview.
- Complete a technical assessment if your GitHub profile does not sufficiently demonstrate the required expertise.
- Proceed to hiring manager review.
