With a strong focus on Australia, we aim to expand our platform and offer audiences access to an alternative, independent news source.

The Recruiter/Talent Scout plays a key role in identifying, approaching, and onboarding individuals who align with the mission and values of Thought Digest Media Group (TDMG). You will actively seek out journalists, creatives, panellists, researchers, and behind-the-scenes contributors who can support and elevate our multimedia content—from digital news and monthly newspapers to our podcast and political talk shows.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the media landscape, is skilled at spotting emerging talent, and can build meaningful relationships with both professionals and students.

Key ResponsibilitiesTalent Identification:

• Source, evaluate, and recommend candidates for a variety of roles—on-camera talent, writers, editors, designers, producers, and researchers.

Networking & Outreach:

• Engage with journalism schools, online portfolios, social platforms, and professional communities to discover potential contributors.

Candidate Engagement:

• Reach out to prospects, communicate TDMG’s mission and opportunities, and assess cultural and editorial alignment.

Pipeline Management:

• Maintain an active database of potential recruits, upcoming collaborators, and long-term prospects across all verticals.

Collaboration with Leadership:

• Work closely with the publisher and team leads to understand current and future staffing needs across projects.

Onboarding Support:

• Assist in the initial onboarding process, including coordinating meetings, introductory calls, or skill assessment tasks.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Australian media and creative industries
• Proactive networking ability (in person and online)
• Experience in recruitment, talent management, or casting (formal or informal)
• Understanding of TDMG’s editorial values and commitment to independent journalism
• Organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working autonomously
• Bonus: Connections within universities, grassroots media, or activist/journalistic networks
